Shake that shaking with Steadyfast

By Brian Cheney

My trailer, a 40 foot 5th wheel 2011 Keystone Fuzion 400, moves around more than I would have expected for such a large heavy trailer. By “moves around”, I don’t mean from camp site to camp site. Every time someone walked across the trailer, or got up to use the restroom in the middle of the DSC00509night, the entire trailer would shake like an earthquake. After several attempts to get rid of that annoying shaking myself, I decided to search the internet for solutions to our problem. I discovered a product called Steadyfast in several conversations on many R.V. related web forums. I found every thread discussion had very positive feedback for the product. With so many happy and satisfied users of the Steadyfast system I decided to go with all these “happy campers” suggestions.

I began the process by calling Steadyfast with a technical question regarding DSC00501my fifth wheel. Having round hydraulic legs in front as opposed to more traditional square motor driven gear, I wanted to make sure the system would still work for me. Paul, the owner of Steadyfast, ended up being my “technician”. He knew exactly what was concerned with and assured me the Steadyfast system would work. Two days after I ordered the system it was waiting at my door. After reviewing the instructions, the tools came out, and I started the install.

Installation was a breeze, and the instructions were very clear, with sample DSC00498pictures of each scenario. Steadyfast even supplies the specialty drill bits, Allen wrenches, and hardware kit with detailed packaged markings for easy trouble free installation.

The front hardware and bars went on first. With the ‘L’ brackets and cross bars laid out and marked, using the provided drill bit made anchoring to the ‘I’ beams a simple task. Installing the leg brackets came next, and took less than 20 minutes. The adjustments for the cross bars is very straight forward, and front stabilizer system was completed in 2 hours.DSC00493

Next came the rear, with a single cross bar that attaches to the frame the same way the front does. There are two new feet that simply bolts onto the existing stabilizers. The last step was to attach the single foot bracket, to the new plate supplied with the kit. Three hours later the install was complete.

Next came the “shake test”. A few minor adjustments, and test of the power stabilizer deployment, it was time to snug the three “T” handle points on the new Steadyfast system. I walked through the trailer with my wife in it, and stood outside and pushed on the ends of the trailer. I was shocked at the DSC00505difference.

After I released the three “T” handles, and performed the shake test again, it proved just how effective the Steadyfast kit performed. Paul told me the kit would eliminate 85 to 90 percent of the motion, and it did just that. I’m absolutely pleased with the results of Steadyfast, and can’t say enough positive feedback about the results. Thanks Steadyfast !!

A few years back we had a raptor 395lev toyhauler that we installed steadyfast on and it really helped. Now we have a cyclone 4000 toyhauler with auto level and 6 jacks. It shakes a lot more than I thought it would with the auto level and when the washer is going I have to almost hang on it shakes and vibrates so bad. We have had the rv since April of last yr and have moved and seet up several times and it never seems to slow down the shaking. I’ve even tryed to auto level several times without moving and it still stays the same, one would think with 6 jacks it would be more stable. My question is can and/or will the steadyfast system slow it down as it did on our older 4 jack rv? Thanks for your time in advance, Bob Nelson
