Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park Announces 3rd Annual Event June 15-18, 2012 – The hills will come alive with the thrills and sounds of ATV play by day and music & fireworks by night. New this year, local OHV club, Mountaineer Trail Riders, will be managing the event. “This event gives riders of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to ride hundreds of miles of trails in some of West Virginia’s most beautiful terrain or tackle some of the most grueling, frame-twisting trails on the east coast”, says club founder, Rob Atha. “If you’re passionate about riding, competing or just having fun with friends and family, you’ll love this event”. Weekend highlights include several brand new competitions and revamped events including guided trail rides, vendor & manufacturer expo, mud pit, live music, radio controlled vehicle racetrack / races, fireworks, and guest appearance by a celebrity outdoor show host (TBD). Friday and Saturday’s ‘Challenge at the Rock’ competition brings a new element of fun to the event for competitors and spectators alike. ATV and Side-by-Side (SxS) riders compete against the clock in this amped up obstacle course full of twists & turns, logs, tires, rocks and mud pit. There will also be kid & adult mud foot races and other games for prizes. Food and OHV vendors will be on site, along with an inflatable Kids’ Zone, radio controlled vehicle demonstrations / races, ATV poker run and more. Attendees will also enjoy discounts on Burning Rock Express zip line rides and guided tours on the park’s ATV trails. The evening will top off with a live concert performed by the blue collar country/southern rock band, Blackwater Outlaws, and a fireworks show.
On Sunday, riders will compete to see ‘Who’s tougher than The Rock?’ in the inaugural ‘Burning Rock Xtreme Mountain Challenge’ sponsored by high quality parts & accessory dealer, Pro Armor. For an additional entry fee, ATV and SxS riders will compete in this one-of-a-kind extreme ‘skills’ competition of five individually timed challenges: obstacle course, frame-twister, mud pit, hill climb, and rock garden. Facilities at Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park include numerous camping sites, RV hookups, rental cabins, showers/restrooms and more. Weekend packages including lodging are available. Weekend (Friday-Sunday) admission is $85 per adult / $35 kids (10 yrs & under). This pass includes trail riding permit and weekend activities (Xtreme Mountain Challenge is an additional fee). Saturday Concert/Fireworks only (gate opens 7pm) admission is $25 per adult / $10 kids (10 yrs & under). Sunday only admission is $10 per adult & $5 kids (10 yrs & younger).
